I have to admit that while I really enjoy the week leading up to Tet, with all of the fabulous night markets, parties, and the everybody going out to cafes and restaurants all hours of the night, I really don't like the week of the actual holiday. It's a very lonely time if you are a single foreigner, and there's not much to do. This article really helped me understand what was going on though, and how to make the most of the occasion.

Giao Thua

I do not think the paraphrasing of "Giao means to give and Thua means to receive" from the article is correct. It should be understood that "Giao" means "Intertwined" and "Thua" means "a moment". So the words "Giao Thua" mean the intertwined moment between the new coming year and the old passing year.
