Westerners fail to get the hang of 'Third gender'

Hijras are not men. They are not always castrated either. The essence of Hijra is not 'eunuch' ... they're often males with full penises; its not what the west calls 'homosexuality' either ... Hijras may just like women as well ... The essence of the Hijra identity is being a male with a female soul.

The westerners have a problem in understanding the category of 'Third gender.'
Third gender is about being a male with a female soul. It's not about homosexuality. Sexuality between a Hijra and a man is not 'homo' but 'hetero' sexuality. These terms of 'sexual orientation' are in any case invalid under non-western circumstances.

The most pathetic condition of eunuchs in the world is in india. All over the world their condition has improved a lot but in india they are still discriminated and are neglected of their true civil rights.A community which was discrimnated by tha nature as well as by man,and which devoted their life for god and state, are as much worth of repect as we are. Lets all we come for their upliftment and help them to live a dignified life.

Hijras my Sisters at Heart...

I just know that in my heart, prostitution would not be the primary form of income, if justice prevailed over the Hijra community. These tremendously gifted people would be doctors, lawyers, teachers, engineers, and other professional types of people who could make a valuble contribution to society. The same is true for us transgender mtf people here in the USA.

Eunuchs are the most looked down race of the society. i don't understand why people don't treat them as normal human beings. why are they denied the right to normal life in society? i want to fight for their upliftment and would like to receive help from people who think the same way as i do

i learned alot from this story about the oppression and lack of human rights these people have. it is a disturbing reminder that change is essential and slowcoming, but at least this story is available for people to learn from. i would be interested in an updated version of the issues facing eunuchs today.
