Tewfic El-Sawy
Biographical Info:
With a particular interest in documenting the people and cultures of South and South East Asia, Tewfic trained with two leading British and French photographers. His images of this region's diverse cultures are the basis for his documentary photography, and have been published in various publications such as The Rotarian, Outdoor Photography, and a number of adventure travel catalogues. Tewfic considers his most captivating "human interest" project as being the documenting of the Maha Kumbh Mela in Allahabad in January 2001.
His personal book projects include Sacred Faces, Masala, Burma: Unlike Any Land, and Tierras Latinas.
He is organizing further solo and group photographic expeditions in 2004, and has returned from leading a group photo expedition to Sikkim (North India) in November 2003, and from a photo-tour in Ethiopia.
Tewfic frequently collaborates with fellow photographer and writer Debbie Jefkin-Elnekave
