Shandur Polo Festival |

I participated in the famous Shandur polo festival in July 2007.
Shandur is the highest polo ground on earth where the free-style mountainous polo is played between the team of Chitral and Gilgit.
The match between Chitral and Gilgit was really sensational. The spectators rose to their feet as their respective teams scored goals.
The thing that fascinated me the most was the drumbeats and the music of the reed instrument, which is a compulsory part of this traditional sport of the people in Northern Pakistan.
At the end, as Chitral team won the final, the winning team had a fantastic victory dance. The locals as well as foreign guests joined the polo team in their dance.
It was a memorable day!
