Worship of Goddess Keshai Khaity by the aboriginal Lalung Tribes of Nagaon district in Assam on 26th April 2009. It is said that a Keshai Khaity Mandir was established by the forefathers of the tribes in the year 1266 A.D.From then onwards worship is being carried on by the comming generation every year in the month of April(Bohag). To be noted that only the male community of the tribe can take part in the worship, however the females can be only be the spectators from a distance. It is believed that Goddess Keshai Khaity is also known as Kalika, the goddes of power and strenghth and she accepts blood from her devotees. So to satisfy her,the chief priest(Bor Deuri) offers blood of fowls, hens, pigeons and finally they offer a tortoise which is the main item of the worship(Puja). About more than 200 birds were sacrificed, used to be collected from each family of the village as a tradition.More than 300 devotees participated in the festival.
