A stone throw away from Meiji Shrine, on the backstreets behind the upscale stores of Omotosando Dori is Harajuku-a fashion mecca of shops carrying everything from international to local brands of skate and specialty clothing.
Located in the Shibuya ward of Tokyo, Harajuku attracts people from all walks of life. It is best known as the place to pick up Tokyo-type treasures only found in this popular, teen-infested shopping district. At affordable prices, the youth of Japan can costume themselves in whichever attire they desire.
The fashion styles of those hanging in Harajuku includes: Skater; Classic Lolita; Gothic Lolita; Sweet Lolita; Punk Lolita; and Cosplay (where people dress like their favorite anime or video-game character) among many others.
A favorite pastime is to sit at a local café and watch the spectacular sea of fashions pass by on a Sunday afternoon.
