It was an unplanned treat, last October, to arrive in Kyoto just in time for the Jidai Matsuri, also known as the Festival of Ages. In this annual event, over 2000 people parade through the streets of Kyoto in traditional costumes from Japan's feudal history. Performers wear historically accurate costumes of both noblemen and commoners, warriors brandish period weapons and geisha in all their stoic elegance grace the crowds with their beauty.
