Description:

Cuisine: Bengali
Average meal for two: US$ 18

Aaheli at the Peerless Inn is the only up-market restaurant in town which serves authentic Bengali cuisine. The attendants at this 45-cover outlet are all clad in traditional dhoti-kurtas and red-bordered white saris. There is a very good thaali (set meal) here, which you can order if you are unused to
Bengali food. You will get a portion of different things to taste, and the much popular Mahabhoj Thali at US$ 8 is sufficient for two. If you want to be adventurous and order your own thing, try the aampora sherbert (green
mango syrup), mochaar ghonto (made of banana flowers) and the chithal muitha (fish ball curry). Even if you are not a dessert-eater you must at least taste Bengal's famous misti doi (sweet curd) and malpoa (fried pancakes in
syrup) here.
