Magnolia, or Mags, goes back to the time of World War II, when American soldiers started this place as an ice-cream parlour with a live band. Mags has 75 covers with 50 in the bar upstairs. There is a salad bar - the only
one on Park Street - and you can toss your own salads here. The cuisine is mainly French. Try the grilled lamb chops, chicken fondue, chicken Burmese ice bag and chicken khowsway while you are there. The ice-cream counter stocks the international range of Wall's products and is very popular with the younger crowd. A two-piece band plays on Saturday and Sunday. The clientele is mostly upper-middle class.
