Description:

I wasn't quite sure what to make of this place. I thought I was paying 15 RMB to get into a large, walled complex inside of which are historical Ming dynasty styled buildings, and a shrine and cave dotted mountain. This turned out to be mostly the case, with the added only in China twist that the King of Ming complex also houses one of Guilin's universities. I supposes that I could have gotten in for free by telling the guards I was a student. In any event, the area was lovely, and I found the memorial engraved with the characters for "Sun Yat Sen is Not Dead" very inspirational. There are several restaurants by the south exit that specialize in horsemeat dishes. Maybe it's a student thing?

King Town of Ming is directly north of the Zhengyang Pedestrian Mall.
