Description:

Located on the first two floors of one side of a large building that vaguely resembles a large stone vaginal opening (see picture), Kaixuanmen Dasha is known as a one-stop spot in Shanghai for all of your sexual health needs. On the first floor, the shopper can find libido enhancers of all sorts, from ginseng to powdered deer horn, snake bile to oyster shell pills, viagra to vitamin E - in other words, concoctions from western and eastern medicine.

On the second floor, shoppers will find the racier stuff in stalls that specialize in the sale of devices meant to be used both alone and with the partner of your choice. There is nothing sleazy about the scene, though; most of these stalls are run by middle aged women in clean white lab coats who will be glad to answer any questions that you might have if you can ask in Chinese. Any preconceived notions about the Chinese being shy and reserved when it comes to sex should be nicely dispelled by a quick visit to Kaixuanmen Dasha.
