Price:
Inexpensive
Description:
While many visitors come here just to visit the temples on the top of the hill, it's worth spending at least half a day to explore the entire park.
Trails lead around the hills, which are dotted with temples and shrines. The smell of incense wafts along pine scented air, and the sounds of birdsong mingle harmoniously with the click-clack of mah-johng tiles in play. The main temples, the former home of a Manchu renagade warlord named Wu Sangui, are beautifully restored, ornate, and rich with history.
Admission to the park is 15 RMB, and the only other expenses you'll encur might be food, a cable-car ride to the expo center, or a posed picture on top of one of the two huge, double humped camels who work the park's tourists. Buy one an ear of corn, you'll have a friend for life.
