Description:

There's also branches in Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Singapore, Kyoto, and Sendai to name a few. I highly recommend the XLB and double cooked chicken soup if you like brothy soup. I'm sure everything is good. The best part about the restaurant is that you get to see them make the dumplings.

I went to their Pasadena (LA) with high expectations. It is, of course, a legendary name among shao long bao fanatics. The skin was firm and held in the soup. But the flavor was overly complicated by everything but the sweet pork. I much prefer the shanghai dumplings at Koi Palace, where they also serve it with a sweeter vinager. But the chicken soup at din tai fung was excellent - clear, shimmering, and soulful. It was simple as a good chicken soup should be.
